A unique opportunity to bring your aviation expertise and management skills to help SGRE drive aviation safety in the rapidly expanding and developing renewable energy sector.
Join the established centralized team of SGRE aviation subject matter experts, applying your aviation expertise, to jointly develop implement and audit leading safety standards across our global activities and manage aviation risk. In addition to oversight of aviation activities you will, jointly develop guidance and provide aviation advice on current and future aviation activities, this covers our global footprint and includes both manned helicopter operations and the expanding use of unmanned aircraft.
We are currently looking for an Aviation Specialist to join our team in Northern Europe.
How to contribute to our vision
As an Aviation Specialist you will play a vital role by acting as a subject matter expert within SGRE. You will advise on current and potential future activities, this will include the use of manned and unmanned aircraft across our global scope of work.
You will contribute to enhancing safety assurance by conducting aviation safety audits of operators, aircraft and facilities. You will contribute to the continual improvement and use of aviation through jointly developing standards and processes.

Designs and describes the aviation governance documents required to define the standards, requirements and processes to meet regulation and industry standards.
Upholds and promotes the implementation of aviation governance in support of the overarching product safety system that adequately covers the safety and liability risks of products and services of the organization and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations in and aviation environment.
Ensures that the Aviation Specialist are regularly assessed for maintaining expertise, completeness and effectiveness, and that requirements for aviation oversight are implemented.
Ensures that necessary corrective measures are properly dealt with and implemented.
Ensures regulatory and industry changes are reflected in SGRE aviation governance.
Maps the path towards compliance and control of aviation oversight.
Provides clear leadership to SGRE on Aviation standards and requirements, sets the direction and standards for aviation governance.
Escalates appropriately when aviation topics require review.
Oversight of aviation activities.
Writes and maintains the aviation governance documents.
Influences industry development of standards and regulation to enhance safety and promote the development of aviation that is beneficial to SGE business.
Ensures definition and implementation of a competence and training system for the team of Aviation Specialist.
Actively fosters a product safety culture in SGRE and provides support and advice, encompassing the existing BUs.
Maintains close collaboration with all facets of PS&RM team, Operational Safety Committees within BUs, regional HSE networks and communities
Leads the development of aviation standards for SGRE.
Provides expert input and advice to SGRE on aviation topics.
Oversight of SGRE aviation activities.
Produces high level overview of aviation activity and risks within SGRE.
Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change.
Education
Hold or Held for a period of 8 years a Commercial Pilots License (or higher) issued by a National Authority.
Hold or recently held a Single and Multi Pilot license on multi engine helicopters used in offshore operations.
Hold or held a Flight Instructor rating and/or Flight Safety Officer, safety auditor, and/or, Flight Operations Inspector for a National Aviation Authority, and/or Flight Simulator Instructor, Type Rating Instructor.
Relevant experience required
Flight hours commensurate with experience but not less than 2500 Hours
Highly desirable management or supervisory experience in flight operations – Nominated Post Holder, or Chief Pilot, or Base Manager or, Base Captain.
Minimum 8 years experience in commercial aviation as a flight crew member.
Must have worked in the commercial offshore aviation sector (Passenger transport in the energy sector) for at least 12 Months in the last 5 years.
Highly desirable: Experience in both Single and Multipilot operations of multi engine helicopters used in the offshore energy sector. Experience with passenger hoisting operations to wind farms. Significant experience as a multi engine TRI/TRE & simulator instructor.
Highly desirable: experience of developing and influencing industry regulations and guidance.
Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role
Demonstrates strong communication skills and the ability to guide, advise, and explain aviation topics from a position of authority. They must be able to communicate in an effective way complex concepts at different levels, internally & externally.
Responsible for developing and implementing a roadmap towards full oversight and governance of all SGRE aviation activities.
Works closely with other aviation specialists aligning standards with the industry.
Sufficient experience and standing to represent SGRE with customers, working groups, regulators and manufacturers of aircraft / equipment.
The ability to travel to conduct onsite activities such as audits / approvals of aircraft, operators, facilities.
Enthusiasm to broaden your knowledge of aviation topics and drive to develop the safe and wider use of aviation in support of renewable energy as part of team supporting our global operations.
