Satellite Controllers wanted for Geostationary Satellites
Telenor Satellite AS offers satellite services from the 1 West geostationary location. The Satellite Operations group is responsible for 24-hour monitoring and operation of Telenor’s geostationary communications satellites. From our satellite control center at Fornebu we operate the Thor 5, Thor 6 and Thor 7 satellites.
The Satellite Operations group has a total of 19 employees (8 satellite controllers and 11 engineers). We are now looking for three junior Satellite Controllers taking part in a 24/7 shift roster at our headquarters at Fornebu. As our new Satellite Controller, you will get the unique opportunity to learn more about satellite operations throughout a 12-month training period. We do not require you to have experience from satellite operations, but it is desirable that the applicant has a basic knowledge of geostationary satellites and satellite communication in general. Some of the exiting tasks you will get:
Monitor and evaluate telemetry/satellite data.Perform operational procedures to configure the satellites and ground equipment based on a daily activity plan. Perform planned manoeuvres for positioning and attitude control.Train and be prepared to handle alarms and unforeseen events.Daily reporting of equipment status and general technical operational maintenance of the satellite control centre.Continuation of training and other relevant tasks such as software testing and data trending if needed.
Do you have the following background and experience:
Technical background within electro/computers at engineer/technical college level or equivalent.Operational experience from the military, electric company, offshore etc. will be considered instead of formal technical qualifications.Working experience within operational environment computers/communications or network systems will be an advantage.Good written and spoken English is an absolute requirement.A good team player that is willing to make independent decisions.
