New Energy Solutions (NES) Business Area shall deliver a safe and profitable renewable business. NES aims to do this with the support of Equinor’ s oil and gas competence, project delivery capabilities and ability to integrate technological solutions. NES consist of the following business clusters: North Sea (NOS), East Coast US (USE), Emerging markets (EMR), Renewables Solutions (RES), Power and Markets (POM), Business Development (BD)

We are seeking an Operations Director for Dogger Bank operations. This is an exciting, pioneering position which combines the opportunity to shape the strategic operational direction for Dogger Bank and define sector-leading performance at the world’s largest wind farm. The Dogger Bank is owned by SSE Renewables and Equinor as a 50/50 joint venture. Dogger Bank will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm when completed in 2023 to 2025 comprising 3 large projects with a total production of ~18TWh/year (3.600MW installed capacity). Equinor is the lead operator in the operational phase. Dogger Bank is ground-breaking in taking offshore wind to a new level with long distance from shore, utilisation of the world’s largest WTG with 13+MW capacity and ground-breaking rotor diameter. We also have scaled up the HVDC facilities both offshore and onshore from existing 800MW capacity to 1200MW.
The Operations Director will report to the Vice President for Dogger Bank Development in Equinor and report directly to the Dogger Bank JV Board for the three Dogger Bank projects and companies.
We are seeking an Operations Director with strong strategic orientation with an ability to drive the operations towards a more futured-oriented context taking advantage of digitalisation and robotics to improve profitability and safety.
The successful candidate will be provided with a robust onboarding programme and a solid introduction to Equinor and the New Energy Solution business area to support navigating the organisation structure and framework. This will include governance models and people and culture in order to deliver on Equinor’s Leadership framework of Shape, Empower, Deliver.Job Description• Accountable for ensuring safe site operations and maximised production while ensuring the safety and security of our people comes first
• Responsible for leading the O&M team and delivering the Services described in the Operations Management Agreement (OMA)
• Responsible for the development and execution of the Dogger Bank O&M strategy with measurable impact
• Responsible for building a strong culture at Equinor’s new Port of Tyne base where Equinor values are strongly embedded
• Responsible for the creation of a diverse, inclusive Operations and Maintenance organisation where being inclusive is how we do business
• Responsible for Leadership of the Operations and Maintenance team, which includes talent and development activities to systematically build competence and capability
• Responsible for annual business plan, programmes and budgets and responsible for significant profit and loss
• Responsible for initiating and driving ambitious and complex improvement program to increase profitability with particular attention to how digitalisation and robotics can substantiate this
• Accountable for material business risk with potential on licence to operate
• Responsible for all day-to-day management decisions, including assessing operational risks, ensuring the risks are being monitored and managed and ensuring effective controls and management information systems are in place
• Responsible for implementation of site safety rules
• Responsible for ensuring the Equinor management system is implemented and utilised efficiently at site
• Responsible for ensuring a fully staffed ERP team are trained and available at site
• Responsible for ensuring business continuity plans are in place for site
• Responsible for establishing good knowledge of opportunities in North East for improving operations, ensure good stakeholder management both externally and internally nd “be the face of Dogger Bank externally” in the North East
• The successful candidate will be contract responsible where relevant
• The successful candidate will report to the JV Boards monthly and plan and organise quarterly JV Board meetingsQualifications• You have broad and deep knowledge and experience of the UK offshore wind industry and a top quartile track record from either offshore wind development or operations
• You have solid understanding of the broader energy landscape
• You have good understanding of opportunities the digitalization area can provide for the business and are willing to consider new approaches
• You have excellent stakeholder management experience
