Where do you come in?
We are looking for an ambitious Manager heading Manufacturing Excellence, who will be reporting to our COO at the headquarters in Esbjerg, Denmark.
At VIKING, the world is our home market. So when we say Global Manufacturing, we mean a truly global unit across Europe and Asia, which comprises around 1,000 VIKINGs distributed among nine factories. Each plays its own unique role in our global production setup. At our factories we produce a variety of products securing a complete supply of Liferafts, LifeCrafts, Evacuation systems, Lifeboats, Davits etc.
As Manufacturing Excellence Manager, you will work closely with the Management team in Global Manufacturing.
With your strong focus on execution, you will serve as facilitator between these factories.
Primary tasks and responsibilities
We strive to have the industry's best and most competitive production and to embrace new technologies and digitalization to streamline processes and capture data across the organization. We call this Manufacturing Excellence.
As Manufacturing Excellence Manager, you will play an international role with global responsibility for the Manufacturing Excellence Program, which will deliver year-on-year improvements measured on Quality, Health & Safety, Speed, Dependability, Flexibility, and Cost.
Your role will be cross-organizational, heading and facilitating projects between the nine factories in collaboration with Management team
Your focus will be within Supply Chain and Manufacturing including supply chain design, risk management, capacity planning, etc.
You will also be responsible for developing processes and supporting leaders in change management and operational improvements
In the medium term, there are various potential management career opportunities for the right person.
You should expect 60–80 travel days globally per year, depending on COVID-19 restrictions, of course.
Your profile
You have a degree in production engineering or a similar technical education. Keeping up to date on the latest technologies and digitalization is your top priority, and you see opportunities where others see limitations. An MBA is an advantage, but not a requirement.
Optimally, you have a proven background from a similar position at a large global company, where you have successfully managed projects with a keen understanding of the project management discipline and best practice.
Proven experience in manufacturing and digitalization is crucial
Project management skills – both planning, execution and implementation
International work experience
Strong communication skills and cultural adaptability
Keen analytical mind, both strategically and operationally
Mastery of manufacturing disciplines such as LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.
Experience working with SAP would be a definite plus
English is our corporate language – fluency in both spoken and written English is a must
Moreover it is important that you are able to maintain a good overview of business processes from the broader perspective of the business goals and requirements of a global organization.
If you live abroad, you might live in proximity to one of our local factories, preferably in Denmark, Norway, China or Thailand.
On a personal level, you feel comfortable communicating on all organizational levels. You are self-driven, have a positive and results-oriented attitude, and you thrive in a busy environment where cooperation is a must. So, obviously, you are a team player.
Moreover, you are innovative, professional in your workstyle and experienced in implementing new processes and systems in a global organization.
