The role
As part of our Maritime Group, these Software Engineering roles will play a key part in furthering the development of Saab’s Next Generation 9LV Combat Management System, as it gets implemented across a variety of Royal Australian Navy surface platforms. The work may also involve collaboration with global Saab teams on exciting international programs.
We are therefore seeking outstanding Software Engineers who:
Are workplace experienced and ready to face complex challenges
Have knowledge and experience in the full software development lifecycle and various software development methodologies
Have specific or relatable experience in one or more of the following:
Defence systems and subsystems e.g. weapons, sensors and communications
Programming in Ada, Java, C++ or similar
Platform experience using Linux, docker and micro-services technologies
Are prepared to assist Saab’s contribution to Australia’s Naval Shipbuilding enterprise
Please note: These opportunities are being offered on an initial 12 month fixed term contract.
About you
Your skills and experience will include:
Knowledge about contemporary software development standards, principles and best practices.
Writing software requirements for software components
Designing, developing and testing software components
Defect resolution of legacy software components
Programming in Java and/or Ada languages
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team
Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions
Broad understanding of technology and technology trends
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
