Local Unit & Position Description:

Would you like to work on both shaping and accelerating the sustainable growth of aquaculture? DNV is seeking a highly motivated researcher to help develop methods and tools enabling efficiency in operations and control with risks in all parts of the Aquaculture value chain through new technologies and digitalisation.
The ideal candidate has a good understanding of the aquaculture business, the technical and biological aspects of the industry as well as an appreciation of financial and regulatory aspects. We emphasize a strong background in science and/or technology, experience from the aquaculture sector and a solid understanding of the potential impacts of technology and operations on fish health and welfare. The ability to take a holistic view of aquaculture along with other ocean-based industries, understand how they interact with each other and how they impact on ocean health will also be important.
You will be part of the Ocean Space Programme in Group Research and Development (GRD), a multidisciplinary research team that works across several business areas and research programs in DNV to bring new insight and services to DNVs ocean related activities and customers. GRD has five other research programmes: Maritime, Energy, Healthcare, Future of digital assurance and Sustainable Food Systems and Supply Chains.
As an Aquaculture Researcher you will have the opportunity to influence and take part in DNVs research and innovation efforts towards shaping a sustainable future for the ocean space. Your competencies will be crucial in developing this research area in DNV and you will have a unique chance to contribute to advancing the aquaculture industry.
Typical responsibilities include:
Developing standards and best practices supporting sustainable aquaculture
Developing concepts and prototypes for future assurance services
Combining technical and biological understanding of the aquaculture industry into new insights
Developing and (co-)authoring scientific publications and white papers, providing insight and foresight
Applying your knowledge and skills to exploring new technologies and ocean value chains
Developing and conducting research on novel ways of applying digital solutions in the aquaculture industry
Engaging with clients to understand industry needs and piloting solutions
Building international networks externally and internally with key people in the field
Collaborating with top academic personnel and participate in multi-partner research activities related to the aquaculture industry
Identifying relevant calls for public funding and support for tender participation (particularly EU)
Manage projects in time, cost, and quality
Position Qualifications:
Relevant science and/or technology degree at Master or PhD level.
Strong computational and analytic competencies
Fluency in English and Norwegian written and spoken
2-5 years of relevant experience with/from the aquaculture industry
Experience with strategic research and development projects, including project management
Publication and conference presentation record
Personal characteristics:
Solution oriented, with ability to work both independently and in teams
Technically strong in own discipline, eager to share knowledge as well as acquire new knowledge
Holistic thinker and able to apply own knowledge and skills in new areas
Curiosity, an innovative mindset, the interest to learn new topics
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and appreciation for working in an international environment
