We are looking for a self-driven and passionate professional to take up the role as Operations Director in Stavanger, Norway, and to help continue building a presence in Norway with responsibility for working towards growth targets, build and establish relationships with clients and be part of the ongoing growth of the team as we continue to scale.
The role
As Operations Director you will be responsible for day-to-day management of the ABL Norway technical team, overseeing the running of our marine operations projects. The Operations Director will support the office in all technical aspects of the business and perform marine operational duties.
Key responsibilities
To act as Operations Director to assist in fulfilling ABL’s contracts and instructions. This may include attendances offshore and travel away from the normal office base for periods of time, including weekends and public holidays.
To provide consultancy to clients or internally as directed by the Managing Director or nominated representative.
To ensure that ABL Norway AS business in is compliance with National regulation and ABL Group Policy.
To Manage, oversee or be part of project- or work teams as requirement by the Employer. This will include your prioritizing and planning your work and time to meet the requirements of instructions.
To identify potential business, and to promote ABL in its business in the Scandinavian area and world-wide, in consultation with the Manager Director or nominated representative.
To develop the business base and service of ABL, with consideration for ABL Norway’s area of operation.The role is based in Stavanger, Norway. Travel with short notice locally and globally for periods of time will be required to support our projects.
Qualifications and experience required
We are looking for a strategic visionary and solution-oriented professional with sound technical skills and good decision-making capability. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability and be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you will:
Be Master Mariner (STCW II/2) or Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) or equivalent with considerable survey/-marine consultancy related experience and/or training; or equivalents combination of education and experience.
Have a solid understanding of Marine Warranty.
Be fully conversant with marine and engineering consultancy to the offshore oil and gas markets.
Have at least 10 years relevant experience within the Offshore industry.
Exposure to vessels inspections and/or warranty surveys with a technical understanding for the offshore marine and engineering consultancy business is an advantage.
Established network within the region is preferred.
Be fully proficient in English with the ability to deliver accurate and high-quality technical reports on time. Norwegian language proficiency is a clear advantage, but not a requirement.
