Materials Technology is a key competence element for all industries, from maritime to Oil & Gas, but also fundamental in the energy transition where DNV plays a major part, e.g., offshore wind, hydrogen transport, carbon capture and storage, solar energy, etc.
We are looking for a candidate who combines a passion for materials technology, strong academic credentials, professional ambition and good communications skills.
The service portfolio offered by the team covers key aspects of technical consultancy and advisory within topics such as:
Additive Manufacturing
Metallurgy and welding
Corrosion technology and material selection
Technology qualification
Failure analysis and root cause investigations
R&D in close co-operation with the industry and internal domain experts
Development of DNV standards and recommended practices within materials and corrosion technology

The work will comprise of the following main activities:
Customer interaction and consultancy related to e.g. technology qualification and additive manufacturing
Materials advisory within the energy transition, e.g. hydrogen technology
Development and advisoru projects with close customer interaction to provide materials assistance within e.g. metallurgy, welding and manufacturing
Project management in multidisciplinary projects

Position Qualifications:
Higher technical education (master’s degree, Ph.D. or equivalent) in relevant discipline (Materials Technology)
Recent graduate or some years of relevant experience
Digital skills, and interest in applying these skills to enhance value and efficiency of services is a strong advantage
Some knowledge and experience within one or more of the following topics would be an advantage:
Additive Manufacturing
Metallurgy and welding
Material selection
The ocean industries such as Offshore wind, Aquaculture, Oil & Gas and Maritime including business drivers and technical challenges.
Knowledge of green technologies (e.g. Hydrogen, batteries, carbon capture and storage, solar energy)
Fluency in English and Norwegian written and spoken or a clear ambition to attain working capabilities in Norwegian language
Personal skills:
Self-starter, open-minded, able to work independently, but also being a strong team player with a passion to generate customer value.
Customer oriented mindset and excellent communication skills
Ability to seek and leverage the expertise of others
Technically strong in own discipline and highly motivated individual with good interpersonal, communication, and networking skills
Pro-active and self-motivated individual with solution-oriented attitude.

Be part of DNV’s dynamic and competent materials advisory team in Norway.
Our team of 50 materials and structural engineers create and deliver world class services within materials advisory and laboratory testing that range from early concept, through engineering and operations, to lifetime extension, decommissioning and abandonment. We are primarily working with the energy industry but also serving a wide range of industries and applications. The materials advisory group is widely recognized in DNV and in the industry, and we are working in an international environment and serving customers both in Norway and globally. We also collaborate closely with our laboratories to design and execute custom tests and assist in failure investigation and root cause assessments.
