We are looking for an antenna engineer for sensor and radar applications. Join us in developing cutting edge technology like the Gripen E fighter aircraft and GlobalEye airborne surveillance system.
Your role
The antenna engineer is responsible for design, analysis, modelling, and simulation of innovative antennas, waveguides, transmission lines, and related structures to meet demanding requirements. Simulations are important tools in modern system design and we base much of our decisions on simulation results. That is specifically for antennas and antennas installed on platforms.
Your profile
Master’s degree in an engineering discipline
3+ years of research or development experience in the general areas of RF and antennas (internship and thesis work qualifies)
1+ years of experience using EM simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, FEKO
Experience in post-processing of data and implementing algorithms for prototyping in e.g. Matlab or Python
Must be familiar with Electromagnetic modelling/simulation tools, such as CST, HFSS, COMSOL Multiphysics, and analytical tools such as MATLAB and similar
Good written and oral communication skills and an academic background, within a relevant field (Microwave Engineering, Electromagnetic Theory, Antenna Theory)
Familiar with antenna measurement techniques and tools such as anechoic/reverb chambers, near field EM measurements
As much of the work is done in teams, it is important that you enjoy working with others and that you are comfortable in asking and communicating in a prestigious free manner. You should also have a good ability to independently drive your own work and take your own initiative when required. You are analytical and enjoy working with a holistic view without losing control of the details.
The work is relatively free in its structure, which is why it is important that you are good at planning, prioritizing and structuring. As a person, you should take responsibility and work in a collaborative way. You will be communicating with various instances and functions within and outside the company.
This position requires that you will be approved in a security screening in accordance with the Swedish Protective Security Act.
What you will be a part of
Within Saab’s Business Area Surveillance, we work with airborne, land-based and marine radar systems, systems for signal intelligence and self-protection, command and control systems and systems for maritime and air traffic management. We offer effective solutions for surveillance and decision support and systems for detecting and protecting against various types of threats. You will be part of the Microwave & Antennas section of the EW Systems Business Unit.
EW Systems is responsible for systems for electronic warfare such as radar warners, jammers, tracking radar sensors, countermeasures and signal intelligence. The Microwave & Antennas section is responsible for RF system design, microwave design, antenna design and EMC investigations. With us you will be part of the development of Gripen E and other exciting development projects.
