Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) is looking for a Global Procurement Manager - Chemicals that will set direction for, drive and support procurement in assigned WSS’s categories, through defining the procurement strategies and long-term planning of global procurement activities. Responsible for setting the contract framework and standard procurement practices, monitor, drive and support procurement activities and results against target for the relevant categories. Where required or appropriate negotiate strategically important agreements within the categories. In additional, support the business in various contract negotiations.

The role is expected also to evolve and contribute to the development and implementation of local strategies and initiatives.

The role shall drive, support, coordinate and assist in designing sourcing/ procurement solutions and process improvements and the subsequent actions for implementation together with network personnel engaged in such activities.

The Global Procurement Manager reports to the Global Procurement Director and will work closely with the WSS’s network.

Main Responsibilities

Ensure understanding and implementation of, and compliance with, corporate governance throughout WSS’s procurement practices and organisation
Develop, obtain approval for, and implement strategic procurement strategies for assigned categories in WSS, including continually evaluating the “West to East” trend
Drive and ensure planning of procurement activities of assigned categories in conjunction with product managers, procurement resources, global distribution, and operations to reduce cost of goods sold
Evaluate and manage risks within the category supplier base and selection
Optimize procurement spend and ensure that savings are delivered economically, effectively, and efficiently
Ensure appropriate standard contracts are established, maintained, and implemented for assigned category suppliers and sub-contracted services (including service providers)
Negotiate strategically important agreements incl. lease agreements, outsourcing agreements
Ensure the continuous monitoring, managing, and improving supplier performance including performing supplier audits within the category responsibility
Improve utilization of supplier footprint, to reduce freight costs and lead times
Coordinate with Product team to increase supplier quality and incorporate specifications
Collaboration with suppliers and the WSS network to ensure the purchased products are of good quality and as per specification. This includes responsibility for coordinating and participating in supplier audits.
Improving processes, and working with stakeholders in developing system & analytics tools (Power BI, Business intelligence, templates etc)
Working with stakeholders and suppliers to reduce carbon footprint and support and fulfil WH’s sustainability goals.

Qualifications

Master degree or equivalent
Experience in developing and managing procurements in organisations applying international standards
Experience from Chemical industry and technical requirements within the Chemical industry is preferred
Extensive exposure to contract law and contract management
Strong international negotiation experience
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with domestic and international stakeholders and counterparts
Vision and strategic competence with strong analytical skills
Profit orientation, personal drive with an ambition and strong desire to succeed
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and cooperate with diverse individuals and culture
International experience and knowledge of the maritime industry
Excellent communication skills and a very good command of the English language

Work location will be Lysaker
