How to contribute to our vision

For our Innovation and System Integration team within the Offshore Technology department, we are looking for a skilled and dedicated Cost Modelling Engineer for Wind Power Systems.

The System Integration team is cross-functional in mindset with a focus on understanding and driving major engineering and technology decisions through product scoping and architecture trade-off studies. The team consists of very experienced Chief Engineers with strong technical profiles supporting both the offshore and onshore technology modules in their development efforts. You will be part of a team where all are eager to learn and understand wind turbine systems from both a technical and a business point of view.

As our Cost Modelling Engineer, you will be responsible for owning and developing our internal engineering tool for calculating the Cost of Energy in relation to our product cost structure, turbine loads, and future technology developments.

What you need to make a difference

Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are looking for you, who wants to make real what matters and who wants to change the world to renewable energy.

The ideal candidate most likely has a background in economics or engineering and relevant experience in the wind power industry. As a person, you have excellent problem-solving skills and understand the complex economic and technical interactions in the full wind turbine value chain from OEM to a developer. We expect that you have strong communication skills presenting engineering and business topics, can drive your daily work independently, and are able to navigate in a large international organization.

We further expect you to be an experienced wind power professional with a strong understanding of the economics driving the wind energy business case. You will continue to lead our effort to integrate our system modeling analysis tool tying site conditions, power curves, turbine loads, and cost structure together with cash flow and customer business case.

Your time will be split between scenario evaluations to support business decisions, further tool development, and participation in various development and technology projects. You will be supporting business case development during the scoping phase for new products.  You will work across departments collecting inputs and iterating on scenarios and analyses with product portfolio management, platform chief engineers, and technology development departments.

Our system modeling tool is written in Matlab with an Excel interface and you will independently be able to maintain it and drive the development effort while coordinating the roadmap and backlog with the relevant internal stakeholders. Light development of the tool will be required as the need arises, and you should therefore be comfortable coding MATLAB and VBA in Excel.

The team is centered around our development hub in Brande and that will be preferred, but the position can also be managed from our office in Madrid.

In return of your commitment we offer you…

Become a part of our mission for sustainability: Clean energy for generations to come. We are a global team of diverse colleagues who share a passion for renewable energy and have a culture of trust and empowerment to make our own ideas a reality. We focus on personal and professional development to grow internally within our organization. Siemens Gamesa offers a wide variety of benefits such as flexible working hours as well as home-office possibility for many colleagues, employer-funded pension, attractive remuneration package (fixed/variable) and local benefits such as subsidized lunch, employee discounts and much more.
