Shipping is an industry that is expected to grow with more than 400% until 2050 due to increased transport needs. During this period the GHG emissions from shipping should be reduced by 50% compared to 2008 levels according to IMO. This creates both a huge challenge and a great opportunity for Stena and especially for Stena Teknik.

We offer

Your assignment is to lead Stena Teknik and its employees to support Stena ABs business areas in this challenge by being Stena’s experts on marine technology, future fuels and future vessel design. Our specialists know their business, understand their challenges and contribute to our competitiveness. Stena Teknik needs to lead the way forward to meet the expectations in sustainable solutions for the future.

We want you to enable and inspire through your leadership rather than control. You will lead highly motivated employees with unique competences and also lead the continuous competence transfer from the more experienced employees in the team to the newly recruited. You are responsible for attracting and securing the competences needed going forward in order to develop both Stena Teknik and Stena.

Under your leadership your team also plays an important role as referral body when developing new international and national marine legislation. As responsible for Stena Teknik you are Stena’s representative towards international and national authorities as well as classification societies, academia and institutions. You also need good knowledge of suppliers and consultants in the maritime industry.
About You

We believe that you are a self-driven person with deep knowledge in and experience of shipping and marine technology and an educational background in fields close to our main operation, preferably a MSc in Naval Architecture.

Stena Teknik today consists of 18 employees, all with high specialist competences. As a leader for this team you need to handle the duality of nurturing a good team spirit and at the same time leave room for a high degree of independence.

Stena Teknik has its customers in the Stena Sphere and you need to be able to keep good relationships and support the business areas while at the same time standing-up for the expertise and competence of the department. We believe that a deeper understanding of and involvement in commercial parts of the projects is needed going forward. And last but not least you need a genuine interest in sustainable marine fuels and new technology such as AI, automation and connectivity.
About Us

Stena Teknik’s assignment is to support our business areas in this challenge by being Stena’s experts on marine technology, future fuels and future vessel design. To support the business areas Stena Teknik needs to know their business, understand their challenges and contribute to their competitiveness.

Stena Teknik’s biggest responsibility is to lead newbuilding projects and over the years Stena Teknik has been responsible for more than fifty of those projects worth between $ 20 million and $ 1,300 million.

The role is located in Gothenburg, Stena Headquarter and you will report to Carl-Johan Hagman, CEO Stena Rederi AB.
