The role:
We are now seeking to recruit a Systems Integration Engineer who will be responsible for the integration, verification and validation of certain constituent parts of the Armada system. The Armada is a fleet of ultra-low emission robotic ships up to 70+m in length, with operational payloads, support infrastructure and trained personnel operating together to satisfy customer’s needs across a range of maritime services world-wide with greater levels of safety, sustainability and reduced environmental impact than traditional alternatives.
Armada will be delivered and operated by Ocean Infinity Group, a world leading provider of ocean data, search and recovery services. You will be joining an exceptional team united in their passion for enhancing value for our clients through smart thinking and invention. The work we do is varied, challenging, high profile and always highly rewarding.
You will be instrumental in a comprehensive vessel systems integration program enabling remote worldwide operations and your varied work scope is likely to include onshore, offshore and adventurous remote location campaigns. You will need to be comfortable with a wide variety of technical specifications, electrical interfaces and communication protocols and show a willingness to learn as needed.
The responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Work with third-party vendors to test and accept their sub-systems against specifications;
Assemble and integrate received parts into the Armada system;
Plan component-part, sub-system and system verification activities;
Carry out verification including analysis, demonstration, inspection and testing including lab, small-scale and large-scale trials using the Armada robotic vessels;
Prepare appropriate product support and verification documentation;
Capture and document compliance evidence;
Support and prioritisation for continuous system improvement;
Support the staged transition of system capabilities into service on customer tasks;
Develop safety arguments and contribute evidence to the safety case;
Documenting the configuration of the system and update this as it develops;
Undertake FMECA projects to identify and mitigate system vulnerabilities;
Attending specific industry fares and exhibitions where required;
In conjunction with the existing QHSE team, join risk assessments and help implement safe conduct of operations.NOTE: Armada is a rapidly developing project using cutting edge technologies. Person Specification:
This position requires a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience, ideally in a high integrity field of engineering such as aerospace, automotive, marine, defence or control systems. Experience or familiarity with underwater vehicles and uncrewed surface vessels, as well as a general sense of hydrographic sensors and survey equipment, is beneficial.

Essential:
A degree in a relevant technical subject;
5+ years’ engineering experience in a suitable field;
Familiarity and experience with modern systems engineering methods;
Experience of planning and/or carrying out testing, trials, integration and commissioning.Desirable:
Ship marine systems, propulsion systems, navigation systems, communication systems;
Ship automation and health monitoring systems;
Reliability, availability, maintenance and support analysis and planning;
EO / IR cameras, sensors, compression and transmission;
Satellite, telephony and digital radio systems;
Robotic systems, remotely or autonomously operated vehicles;
Control system integration including PLCs and OPC, UDP-IP, NMEA, RTSP and serial protocols;
Marine survey systems such as sonar, DGNSS, inertial navigation, subsea positioning systems;
Marine operations and marine safety;
FMEA, FMECA and safety and reliability analysis;
Regulations, classification, safety arguments and safety case development;
Complex systems engineering, configuration management, modifications and standardisation;
Engineering project planning and time management;
Supervision of contractors and/or junior team members.Compliance:
Implements the OIMS and all other organizational practices and programs under his/her supervision or control;
Requires all team members under his/her direction to successfully complete all required training, competency elements, and OIMS training;
Collects, recommends, and implements OIMS improvements;
Collects requisite/appropriate data per the OIMS;
Ensures there is a process in place to maintain workplaces and equipment under his/her direction that are safe, well kept, and complies with OIMS policies;
Ensures safe working procedures are developed for the use of hazardous chemicals, physical, and biological substances;
Conducts or arranges for risks assessments;
Participates in event investigations, Frontline Insights, Positive Investigations, and other OIMS programs;
