As Senior Security Advisor in Maersk Fleet Management & Technology you are instrumental in shaping and maintaining the tools and procedures that keep our seafarers secure from risks while performing their work as sea and in ports.We offer
Reporting to the Head of Quality, Environment and Security the Senior Security Advisor is a trusted collaborator and internal consultant to the vessels’ Masters and Chief Engineers, to shore side Management, Regional Leadership and head quarter functions in developing and maintaining policies and procedures for the protection of seafarers and vessels against maritime security threats.
The team is newly established in Copenhagen and you will together with your new colleagues be shaping the team culture and lay the foundation for an engaged work environment.

You will engage with external stakeholders and authorities to create security solutions and when dealing with issue resolution.

Furthermore, you may be asked to participate in seminars, travel to conduct risk assessments or occasionally visit vessels to investigate or engage and learn from our colleagues in the frontline.

The Senior Security Advisor functions as Deputy Company Security Officer (DCSO) and take part in a shared 24/7 duty roster.

Key responsibilities
Act as the Center of Excellence in practical implementation of all ship security issues including ISPS compliance, be a sparring partner for your manager and help coach for your colleagues on security matters.

You lead the development and practical implementation of procedures for the protection of seafarers and vessels against all aspects of maritime security related risks, including:Piracy and robbery
Drug smugglingStowaways and Migrants / RefugeesTheft and vandalismEffects of tension, armed conflict and war including terrorism
In your daily work, you are responsible for:Creating and monitoring of ship and cargo security conceptsRespond to enquiries from authorities including flag states
Ensure we are in compliance with regulatory requirements including ISPS
Respond to and resolve security questions and issues arising from our vessels or shore teams as a result of daily operation.
Development of preventive measures against drug smuggling on board vessels or in cargoRespond to calls, alerts and alarms from vesselsEnsure our SSAS systems are in order
Advice on purchasing of guard and escort services in ports and at seaTraining of crews on security issuesTake part in the crisis / emergency management as needed.

We are looking for
The ideal candidate has several years of experience in a similar role in a shipping company or similar experience from a consultancy working directly with shipping companies.

You have a good understanding of the work environment onboard a merchant vessel and proven experience in establishing simple, efficient and effective operational security measures.

You may have completed a degree in Nautical / Maritime Transport, Ship Operation, or comparable education or had a career with the Navy or Federal Police combined with relevant work experience in the private maritime sector.

You have worked as a company security officer as per the ISPS code.

Furthermore, you should have:In-depth knowledge of the ISPS Code and its implementation
