Vacancy – Senior Offshore Geophysicist
Job description
As a Senior Geophysicist you will be an essential part of our offshore team. You will be responsible for performing, coordinating and supervising the processing and quality control of mainly geophysical data and ensure that the processing meets the project specifications with minimum interruption. You will be working - weeks rotations. Thereafter you will be free the same number of weeks.
Main duties
The Geophysicist works with quality control, processing and interpretation of data from: Side scan sonar, Sub-bottom profiler mainly chirp, Innomar and Sparker, Gradiometer and magnetometer, Video inspection, Geotechnical samplers, CPT and VC.
Coordinate Offline team on standard projectsSummarise the results from the survey data in text reports
Responsible for overall quality control of the data processing, interpretation, and reporting.
Ensure that the work fulfils the project criteria and that procedures are followed
Ensure that processing logs are appropriately used
Improve and develop internal procedures
Instruct less experienced personnel and coordinate the data processing
Ensure that the work is performed according to MMT HSEQ procedures
Communicate with the onboard and onshore team with regards to data acquisition, processing status and interpretation
Key RequirementsMinimum years of offshore experience as an Offshore Geophysicist
Fulfills the IMCA criteria for a Senior position
A Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geophysics is required and a Master’s degree in Geology or Geophysics is preferred.
At least seven years’ experience of geophysical data processing, interpretation, reporting.
Workstation skills in IHS Kingdom software, Chesapeake SonarWiz and Seequent Oasis Montaj are required, and skills in RadEX Pro are preferred.
Working knowledge of software: ESRI Arc GIS, AutoCAD and Microsoft Packages is preferred
Other requirements are:
ComplianceComplies with Ocean Infinity management system policies, all OIMS practices, programs, and procedures;
Successfully completes required training as identified by OIMS and the management team;
Participates in the OIMS by reporting events, attending meetings and workshops, reporting problems, and recommending improvements, and other related activities;
Informs an Ocean Infinity Supervisor, Team Lead, or Manager of any unidentified risks, hazards, or system deficiencies in the workplace;
