Vacancy – (Offshore Geophysicist (Grade 1/ Grade 2)

Job description
As a Geophysicist you are expected to play a central role in the offshore processing of primarily geophysical and magnetometer data. You are expected to independently process data and assist the Senior Geologist to ensure that data processing progress meets the project specifications with minimum interruption. You will be working 4-6 weeks rotations. Thereafter you will be free the same number of weeks.
Main duties

Independently work with quality control, processing and interpretation of data from SSS, SBP (Chirp, Innomar, Sparker), Magnetometer (single or multi) and gradiometer.

Coordinate Offline team on standard projects

Summarise results from the survey data in reports

Communicate with the onboard and onshore team with regards to data acquisition, processing status and interpretation

Ensure that the work is performed according to MMT HSEQ procedures

Key Requirements

Minimum of 2-3 years of offshore experience as Geophysicist

IMCA level Grade 1/Grade 2 or similar including experience from offshore work

A Bachelor’s degree or similar/higher degree in Geology or Geophysics

Experience of quality control, processing and interpretation of data from SSS and SBP

Experience in IHS Kingdom, Chesapeake SonarWiz and Seequent Oasis Montaj or equal software is required

Knowledge in RadExPro is preferred

Work knowledge in ESRI Arc GIS, AutoCAD and Microsoft Packages is preferred

Great team player that holds good organisational and communication skills

Compliance

Complies with Ocean Infinity management system policies, all OIMS practices, programs, and procedures;

Successfully completes required training as identified by OIMS and the management team;

Participates in the OIMS by reporting events, attending meetings and workshops, reporting problems, and recommending improvements, and other related activities;

Informs an Ocean Infinity Supervisor, Team Lead, or Manager of any unidentified risks, hazards, or system deficiencies in the workplace;

Supports Ocean Infinity’s environmental and social goals.
