We are now recruiting an Ocean Freight Director who will lead and further develop our Ocean product. We are working in an ambitious, international and fast paced environment and we strive to be the best workplace for our employees!Your roleAs Ocean Freight Director you lead and manage our department Product Ocean in Sweden. You will also be responsible for our road, rail and terminal activities. You are overall responsible to organize a common procurement platform, develop our gateway and secure accurate supplier capacity. You will work in a customer focused role, in close cooperation with Business Development and Operations.You manage the activities performed by members of the Product Ocean team, which includes the following key areas:Be a role model in people management and act according to our leadership principles as well as our mission, vision and values.Lead and develop the Product Ocean team, including five to seven direct reports and one Gateway Manager (staff mainly situated in Gothenburg).Ensure compliance to new and existing routines and processes.Ensure high level of support to the Swedish organization.Responsible for the strategic procurement activities with our core carriers.Develop our cooperation with global core carriers and trade core carriers.Proactively find new alternatives to present carrier structure.Communicate with GEODIS’ network and offices to secure a high level of cooperation.Ensure the Swedish organization is aligned with global core carrier program and strategy.Main contact to global procurement team.Secure allotment with global procurement.Support internally as well as externally in strategic RFQ’s.Represent GEODIS and our Ocean product in customer meetings.As Ocean Freight Director you can be situated in any of our offices in Sweden. The position requires regular travels. You are part of the management team in Sweden and report directly to the Country Manager and functionally to Ocean Freight Director North, East and Central Europe.Your backgroundTo succeed in this role, we believe that you have a bachelor's degree within a relevant field or equivalent work experience. You have extensive experience from a leadership position or documented leadership qualities, within the freight forwarding industry and specifically knowledge of ocean freight and maritime law. It is considered a merit if you have previous experience of procurement, negotiations and contract logistics. Experience of working in a sales driven role and with customer relations is also a merit.Other requirements:Experience of working in an international environment.Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English and Swedish.We are looking for a leader who acts as an ambassador, with passion for developing and motivating others.
