NOV is looking for a metallurgist with strong analytical skills
Our Metallurgy technology center is looking for a metallurgist who thrives on demanding and challenging tasks. Do you want to be part of a team of 18 highly qualified engineers with a wide range of skills and experiences? If you do, and if you want to help us take charge and set new standards in the field of offshore metallurgy and corrosion mechanisms, NOV Flexibles Metallurgy Group might be the place for you.
The NOV technology center is situated at our headquarters in Brøndby, while flexible pipe production takes place at our factories in Kalundborg (Denmark) and Acu north of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
Primary tasks
Our tasks and projects expand the boundaries of what’s possible with available materials and technologies – and you get to be part of them. At the same time, you will be responsible for turning your research efforts into tangible results whenever new pipes are delivered from our factories. In short, your influence will be felt in nearly every part of the production, from sales, design, manufacturing and until pipe installation. Specific tasks include:
Working on qualification and follow-up work with our steel suppliers
Characterization of hydrogen-embrittlement for carbon steel products
Investigations of cracking phenomena on carbon and stainless steel materials
Planning and design of your own test series in cooperation with our skilled technicians
Consolidating test results and creating PowerPoint presentations for our customers based on these results
Draft technical purchase specifications based on international norms and standards
You can expect approximately 10-30 travel days per year to suppliers, customers or external test facilities.
Qualifications
We expect that you:
Are a chemical or mechanical engineer with solid professional skills and a particular interest in and knowledge of corrosion and electrochemistry
Are persistent and structured in your approach to any task
Are good at grasping and handling complex and complicated problems
Are quite proficient in English, as this is our corporate language
Enjoy working independently as well as in teams
