Description

Ever dreamt of becoming part of designing the next generation maritime vessels made for building the many wind farms needed for paving the way of a carbon emission free future? Or have you ever dreamt of merging your creativity with the most advanced design tools and make new and real things that solve real problems?

The intern will support our mechanical design team to design our next generation Airkeel stabilizers. One large system will be assembled and mounted in a 24m Crew Transfer Vessel in the framework of an EU funded pilot project. We also have a demoboat that get a stabilizer upgrade.

Our novel vessel stabilizer is based on our own, patented Airkeel technology. The Airkeel consists of an air-filled, torpedo shaped flotation body and a hydrodynamically optimized fin that are mounted underwater to the bottom of the hull. A shaft mount enables the Airkeel to swing in a pendulum motion from side to side, actively counteracting roll motions by lateral shift of buoyancy. A high torque electric motor and a geared transmission system drives the swing motion. A micro-processor/computer based control system reacts on the input from a 9-axis sensor and actively and adaptively controls the stabilizing motion of the Airkeel.

The intern will be part of an enthusiastic, skilled, young design team that has designed, and prototype tested the system on an 8m ProZero fast rescue craft from our partner Tuco in Faaborg. You will be using the latest version of SolidWorks 3D CAD and FEA tools or similar for drawing the next generation, performance optimized Airkeel. You don’t need to have knowledge of Solidworks, but experience with 3D CAD and manufacturing design with e.g. AutoDesk or similar is required.

Interested? Looking forward to talking to you.
