The successful candidate will be an integral part of the safety department, reporting to and collaborating closely with and representing the Safety Manager. You will interact with a wide range of subject matter experts within the CMSR design, engineering, analysis, chemistry, prototyping, etc., as well as nuclear and maritime regulatory authorities.ResponsibilitiesPlan, investigate and develop sub-sections of the CMSR Safety Case related to one or several of probabilistic safety assessment, deterministic safety assessment, human factors, nuclear security, safeguards, and/or environmental impactVerify safety-related CMSR design requirementsFormulate and review CMSR design requirements, including identifying new requirements from relevant regulations, rules, guides, standards, codes, etc.Consider a diverse range of safety and security topics of the CMSR, including safety case, safety objectives, design principles, defence in depth, categorisation of safety functions, classification of safety components, defence in depth, identification and sentencing of faults.Read up on, obtain and maintain holistic understanding of our technology and the overall operational risk profile.Plan, carry out and report progress on interdisciplinary safety projects in support of and to guide the development of the CMSR and associated experiments and tests, and to substantiate the CMSR safety case.Prepare safety documentation for distribution to internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities.Assist other departments in Seaborg to deliver other projects on time and to the desired level of quality.Essential skillsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSCulture: We value straight-forward, inquisitive individuals who know when to fight for something and when to accept a compromise.
