Become one of our 20 International Trainees at Vattenfall. Each of the trainee positions is unique, linked to a department within a specific business area and a working location. This means that each position has its own specific responsibilities, challenges and matching profile.
Next to your personal development in this unique position you will be enjoying one year of all we have to offer. Your trainee year will be filled with meet-ups with your international trainee team with likeminded individuals. You will be meeting up virtually to work on assignments and live during four seminar weeks where you will be visiting our power plants and growing your superpowers with a variety of trainings.
Your role as a Trainee – Substructure Integrity Engineer Offshore Wind
You will become part of a small, dedicated team of engineers who recently initiated the complex task of designing a new digital approach to structural integrity. The main tasks are design and calibration of large measurement campaigns for offshore wind substructures, including management of data, management of documentation, and maintenance of tools and structural models.
Your daily activities:
Designing measurement setups for offshore substructures, including strain-gauges, accelerometers and other relevant equipment
Processing large quantities of data from site, including setting up of standard routines for sorting and processing of data
Finite element model updates and maintenance
Development of tools e.g. in Python or similar
Machine learning if applicable

As a Trainee – Substructure Integrity Engineer Offshore Wind you recognize yourself in the following:
Master’s degree or similar within the area of structural engineering
Deep knowledge and interest in data processing
Knowledge in structural system identification in form of Operational Modal Analysis
Curiosity or experience within the area of digitalization
Demonstrated coding skills in Python, Matlab or similar
Advanced problem-solving skills
You are our ideal trainee if you are a recent graduate with a Master’s degree or you graduate before September 2022. You are fluent in English. Skills in Danish or German can be a merit. You are willing to relocate for possible assignments throughout the organization. And of course, you identify yourself with our principles: active, open, positive and safe.
Location:
You will be working in the Substructures department within Foundations and the position is located in Kolding (Denmark) or Hamburg (Germany).

Selection period starts in February with online tests followed by the interviews in March. An assessment is also part of the recruitment process and will take place in April. The recruitment process will be finalized around the end of April. The last step will be a pre-employment screening. Starting date of the Vattenfall International Trainee Programme will be September 1st 2022.
