HR Legal is looking for a student assistant to take part in our daily handling of complex challenges related to legal compliance for DFDS-colleagues. In the new position as HR Legal Student Assistant you will both be responsible for compliance projects, help the Legal Counsel HR with preparing legal advice and follow-up on implementation of operational and strategic solutions.

Become part of accomplishing a higher level of compliance!

HR Legal is dedicated to deliver state-of-the-art strategic, legal advice whereby we secure continuous improvement in DFDS’s legal compliance related to employment legislation and HR GDPR. We are focused on delivering pragmatic solutions to legal challenges where we always consider the business perspective and the DFDS values.

HR Legal is responsible for the day-to-day advice on employment related issues related to the Danish employees. This covers both advice on Danish employment legislation, including the rather special legislation applicable to seafarers, and handling of collective bargaining agreements that governs the seafarers. Also, HR Legal is involved in numerous projects in DFDS where we secure legal and strategic compliance in relation to DFDS-employees.

In addition, HR Legal is responsible for facilitating GDPR compliance in relation to more than 8,000 DFDS-employees in at least 25 countries. This includes doing internal audits, prepare and host seminars on HR GDPR and drive the HR GDPR Community towards a higher level of compliance.

You will be working close together with the Legal Counsel HR and you will have daily interactions with both colleagues in our Crewing department (seafarers) and HR Operatives throughout the People Division.

HR Legal is part of the Centre of Excellence and Operations in DFDS’ People Division.

Main responsibilities

The job is set to approximately 15-20 hours per week with mutual flexibility. In this job you will play an important role in terms of managing legal compliance projects, preparing legal opinions, monitoring new legislation and case law on both a Danish and EU level and work on individual cases. The job also includes some operational tasks related to the execution of compliance projects.

You will be responsible for your own tasks and projects and will be given the opportunity to influence and participate in the future development of HR Legal.

Preferred profile

You are probably studying law at the University of Copenhagen or at CBS. You work independently, systematically, take ownership, and keep deadlines. A data-driven approach is natural for you and you have flair for communication and stakeholder management. Experience with legal compliance on employment legislation from another company or from a course will be an advantage, however, this is not a prerequisite.

You are ambitious with a big personal drive to deliver great results. You are passionate about compliance and interested in understanding the complexities relating to employment legislation in the maritime and logistics industry. You can collaborate with colleagues across all levels, functions and locations.
