Fugro is the world’s leading Geo-data specialist, collecting and analysing comprehensive information about the Earth and the structures built upon it. Through integrated data acquisition, analysis and advice, we unlock insights from Geo-data to help our clients design, build and operate their assets in a safe, sustainable and efficient manner.
Fugro’s office in Oslo, Norway is now hiring a Geologist. We conduct hydrographic, geological and environmental surveys of the seabed. Our market varies from oil & gas and offshore wind companies to offshore fish farms, deep sea mining and maritime infrastructure.
The geologist independently interprets and integrates geophysical, geotechnical, and well data, writes technical reports, ensures the quality of project work and communicates regularly with the clients on technical questions.
Key tasks & Responsibilities
Works independently to validate, interpret, and integrate various geophysical, geologic, geotechnical, and well data to form comprehensive assessment of marine site conditions
Writes and prepares all aspects of technical reports. Makes technical presentations and interacts with clients, contractors and in house departments
Works closely with GIS specialists to facilitate data deliveries and charts
Controls the quality of project work performed by other geologists
Prepares input to the offshore operations both before and during the acquisition
Position requirements
We are looking for a Geologist with the following qualifications:
MSc within marine or quaternary geology, geoscience or geophysics. The ideal background would include a mixture of marine geophysics, geomechanics, engineering geology and GIS applications
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Experience with interpretation of marine-acquired survey data, including side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler and seismic data (2D and 3D)
Experience with software packages like IHS Kingdom Suite, SonarWiz and ArcGIS is an advantage
Fluent in Norwegian and English, both oral and in writing
A high degree of initiative and attention to detail are essential
Able to keep pace with short deadlines and high working speed
