The Director Maritime IOT Data – is the spearhead driving the development of a harmonized data warehouse in order to bring synergies between the different businesses in Wärtsilä Voyage. Represented by terabytes of automation, navigation, sensors and models, it represents the cornerstone where cutting-edge products, data-science and analytics meet to create our unique value proposition The position will be a key part of the technology office while also supporting all components of Voyage. Working in a cross-functional expert organization, the candidate will work with stakeholders on defining the overall data strategy and drive its implementation. The role will also lead the adoption of data management best practices across critical businesses.

The role requires a strong focus on delivery as well as managing internal relations helping to leverage efficiency across the businesses.

The location of this position is Helsinki, Finland.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maritime IOT Data Ownership

Define and implement a strategy and operating model which establishes clear processes, roles, accountability and controls necessary to improve and sustain data lifecycle and delivery
Understand the entire organization’s maritime data requirements and make sure that the end to end data flow architecture is normalized and standardized
Continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks in a distributed agile organization
Partner with internal stakeholders (including multiple R&D leaders, dev and devops teams, product owners) and customers across the organization to inform the data vision, strategy, features and prioritization
Defines and executes implementation plan, working to ensure that all stakeholders have what they need to be successful
Develops and maintains appropriate tracking and reporting of the solution performance throughout its lifecycle
Leadership
Motivate and inspire the teams to achieve high performance
Coach, support and challenge (facts, not fictions)
Strong communication and organisational skills helping to drive a transformation

The Director Maritime IOT Data will be part of a technology organization committed to Marine Voyage strategy and mission. All candidates should have demonstrated leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience and success in working in large complex organizations.

Other qualifications include
Advanced degree (e.g. M.Sc.) in computer science or similar, with at least 5+ years of management experience around data with a proven track record
Demonstrated technology background with 10+ years’ experience
Hands-on knowledge of current trends in cloud computing platforms and time series data
Experience leading and managing large, complex projects from start to finish
Ability to be an influential business partner who can lead through influence and garner support from cross-functional teams in complex structures
Experience in organizations with mature data governance capabilities
Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-motivated with demonstrated passion for excellence.
Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with a team of senior professionals.
Experience in leading agile teams in an international and global environment as well as substantial experience as business management team member
Fluency in English is a must, another European language a plus
