Make Impossible Possible in New Space - Join ICEYE

ICEYE is building and operating its own commercial constellation of small Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites with SAR data available to customers. Our satellites acquire images of Earth at any time – even when it’s cloudy or dark – providing commercial and government partners with unmatched persistent monitoring capabilities. Information derived from our SAR images helps customers make data-driven decisions to address time-critical challenges in various sectors, such as maritime, disaster management, insurance, and finance.

We launched the world’s first small SAR satellite in January 2018. To date, ICEYE has successfully launched a total of 10 SAR satellite missions and has raised $152M in financing. We don’t plan to stop - join our team and let’s achieve great things together!

To support the growth of the company, we are looking for a Data Engineering Team Lead to join our Data Engineering Team in the Helsinki area, Finland. Our Data Engineering team is a part of our software organization within the company and is in charge of productionizing analytics products at scale.
The role:

As Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading an amazing team that sits at the intersection between analytics, software development, and infrastructure. We are looking for a person that can act as a force multiplier, driving the team to achieve its goals, with strong software and data engineering, project and team management, and cloud knowledge background.
What you will do:
Lead and grow the Data Engineering team, including coaching and mentoring Help design the technical solutions with which the team will achieve its goals Help the Product Owner and other stakeholders to prepare an ambitious yet realistic roadmap Suggest and define team goals for the next roadmap iteration
What you need to succeed:
Experience leading a team of software engineers and collaborating with the Product Owner and other stakeholders Strong data science background. Our analytics teams work with Python and the related data science stack. This position requires a working knowledge of Python for data science and experience working with analytic teams Strong software development background. Our backend services are usually written in Go. As such, we value Go knowledge or, alternatively, a strong background in any statically typed, C-family language, such as Java, C#, C++... Cloud and infrastructure knowledge. We use AWS, but a good knowledge of any cloud provider is a requirement Infrastructure as code is the right way to do infrastructure, and you can do it as well Docker fluency. An important part of productionizing arbitrary analytics payloads is to containerize them Database experience. We don’t force the relational model on new solutions, but we don’t shy away from it, either, so SQL and relational model knowledge is an asset Our solutions use or are part of Geographic Information Systems. GIS experience is a great asset Experience with workflow management engines, such as Argo, Airflow, Luigi… is highly valued Experience orchestrating machine learning models, training, and/or inference, on cloud-based workflows, is highly valued Kubernetes experience is highly valued
