Wilhelmsen Ship Management (Norway) AS are looking for an Assistant Vessel Manager for the Cruise fleet group. The role reports to the Fleet Manager, but also report functionally to the Vessel Managers. The position is a temporary position with the possibility for a permanent position to cope with the expected cruise segment growth.
Main responsibilities
Planning and coordination of routine and recurring activities, such as:
Annual/periodic class attendance and certificate renewals
Internal and other non-class audits
Periodic supplier services
Supporting Vessel Managers during the preparation, execution and close-out phases of maintenance and dry-docking periods
Coordinate fleet material/spares ordering process in close collaboration with vessels and procurement department
Drive fleet-wide initiatives implementation process as defined by/with Fleet Manager
Responsible for the shared filing system for the assigned ship group. Upkeep of vessel instruction books / manuals / drawings and ensures they are kept in designated shelves/folders
Work to improve the efficiency and redundancy of the fleet team by leveraging new digital solutions for coordination, filing, collaboration and planning
Liaison with insurance companies as and when defined by Fleet Manager
Act as back-up for Vessel Managers to cover for absences or workload distribution
Perform other activities as instructed by the fleet manager
Qualifications
Technical/maritime qualifications, preferably with seagoing experience or degree in naval architecture or marine engineering with relevant office experience
Good command of oral and written English
Basic computer knowledge
Environmental focused
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to develop close relationships with shipboard staff, vessel owners, charterers as well as internal and external support functions
