In this role you will be responsible for the operational performance of the EMEA general ledger, accounting focusing on the Balance sheet functions as Payroll, Tax account, prepaid, accruals and offsetting accounts on the income statement. You will also be responsible for all statutory filings within the EMEA region. Even more importantly you will be a key player together with other stakeholders when it comes to driving new opportunities and challenges within the accounting department such as new legal entities, M&A and other project initiatives. You will be reporting and working closely directly with the Accounting Director of EMEA. You will become a part of an international, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
What you'll do:
Responsible for the quality of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and reserves that falls under the work of the RTR (Record to Report).
Serve as the owner of the monthly/quarterly closing for EMEA.
Ensuring sure that EMEA follows set process by the process-owner as well as deliver monthly and quarterly EMEA flux analysis for key Balance Sheet and P&L accounts in a timely manner and with a high quality.
Manage an operational team manager that will be reporting directly to you.
Making sure that questions are answered as well as clearly communicate issues and come up with proposed solutions to the same.
Responsible that all financial statement within EMEA is filed within agreed time plan and with a high quality. To your help you will have an operational STAT manager that will be reporting directly to you.
In total the entire team is around 4-6 persons onshore (where two will be direct reports) but there is also an extended team of 12-15 persons at our outsourced offshore service provider that falls under your responsibility to ensure that the outsourced activities are performed in an accurate, compliant manner and in accordance with IFRS.
Overall responsibility when it comes to supporting the audit/review process with our external auditors.
Manage EMEA record to report internal control requirements.
Partner with other finance stakeholders in the organization to identify issues and come up with solutions on how to improve the close process and statutory filing.
Partner with other finance stakeholders within the EMEA accounting organization to help drive new initiatives.
Work with extended teams to support implementation of global initiative to keep consistent and standardized accounting processes.
Partner with our outsourced offshore service provider to drive process improvement and standardization effortsLead or support other complex projects as lean or productivity initiatives.
Making sure that set projects are delivered with high quality, within budget and in time.
Lead the EMEA accounting when it comes to setting up new entities, M&A and other project initiatives
Who you are:
You have a B.Sc. degree in Finance/Accounting and strong knowledge of IFRS, accounting operations, general ledger accounting, internal controls, and financial reporting.
8+ years of experience in accounting and/or from big 4.
You have a deep knowledge of accounting, and you know BS & P&L inside and out.
Experienced in working in a European HQ for a US Multinational Company.
Able to deal with complex accounting issues.
Able to work in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable with effectively working with teams in other Spotify locations.
A capable manager of critical projects and not afraid to make decisions.
Last but not least you are a skilled influencer and communicator able to work with cross functional teams, analytically strong and have a can-do-attitude.
Systems savvy: possess a solid understanding and application of finance and accounting systems (Netsuite, Blackline.).
Fluent in English, oral and written. Additional foreign languages would be an advantage
