The Blade Bearing Sub Module Team is anchored in Vestas Power Solutions and is responsible for designing the blade bearing module for new turbines from the very first draft to the roll out for serial production. This includes design estimation, supplier engagement, bearing and side part inspection and testing as well as making sure the bearing and its side parts are structurally sound and produced to the right quality. We are also engaged in turbine upgrades, service, and failure mode analysis. We are an international team located in Chennai, Porto and Aarhus and are looking for support on our bolted connections in one of the above locations.

Responsibilities
As a Blade Bearing Engineer you will be accountable and responsible for generating creative solutions to design situations, to fulfill the product and technology road maps. You are accountable for the quality of own design work by providing robust, trusted, and efficient design solutions with highest performance and lowest cost. It is essential to work closely with your team, suppliers, and the value chain to deliver on projects.
Your tasks can vary from complex development of new systems and concepts to implementation of improvements of existing products. You will be working in project teams supporting delivery on time with the right quality, knowledge sharing and ensuring a pipeline of new technologies.
You will be accountable for understanding, clarifying, completing, and documenting:

  • The Blade Bearing Module Design from early concept until roll out for serial production
  • Design specifications/requirements from high level product specification down to component level
  • Road map projects
  • Improvement projects for the department, in particular in Systems Engineering domain
  • Failure mode analysis
  • In addition, you act as technical key account contact towards our key suppliers and develop design solutions together

Qualifications
You could have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, and solid theoretical knowledge in designing mechanical components, desirable from the Wind Industry:

  • A good understanding of mechanics, materials engineering and tribology
  • Experience with Systems Engineering will be desirable
  • Experience with Structural computations FEA and ANSYS will be desirable
  • Scrum Master experience desirable

Competencies
You are comfortable with taking decisions and being responsible for following up on it. You have good English communication skills at all levels of the organisation, and you are:

  • Self-motivated, but also a team-oriented person that can direct and delegate tasks and present your opinions
  • Skills for, and interest in stakeholder management including coordination, planning, and reporting
  • Understands value chain development in collaboration e.g., sourcing, quality, manufacturing, transport, service, and construction

Additional information
Your primary work location will be Vestas’ headquarter in Aarhus, Denmark. You can expect up to 20 days of travel per year.
